About
Children are often asked what they want to be when they grow up. I’m a grown adult still trying to figure that out. I’ve had a passion for writing for many years, but pushed the desire away thinking I wasn’t good enough to be considered a “writer”. When I finally opened my mind to the possibility, several book ideas came rushing in. I’m currently working on two books, and have a few more written on my idea board. On this site you will see blogs about my writing, and also books I enjoy reading.
I am also an amateur photographer, intent to go pro some day. At this time I have no desire to open a studio and only do family portraits, but I will do that as a side. I prefer outdoor photography, and at least mildly unrehearsed. My passion is not to pose people, but to photograph who they are. The goal of my photography is to capture the inner beauty of spirit of the subject.
I am a very spiritual person, and mine has been a long and varied trip through religion and spirituality. No matter what ‘religion’ I tried, I was never satisfied. Each had it’s own rules which didn’t sit well with me. Eventually I made my own path to Spirit, and that’s when true peace began. I was raised as a Protestant Christian, and later converted to Catholicism. When the beauty of ritual pomp and circumstance had passed, and I was again unsatisfied, I began studying the bible and various books on Christianity, until I studied my way out of the church. I realized that today’s so called christian church was a man-made religion, and I wanted something authentic.
I have studied paganism, including trying to find my roots in Native American spirituality. I believe my true path is shamanism, although lately I haven’t been focusing on it. I incorporate many Buddhist practices into my life, but wouldn’t consider myself a Buddhist. My partner and I attend a Unitarian Universalist Church, and it fits us well.
Happy reading, and I hope you find what you need here. If you don’t, contact me, and maybe I can help.
Namaste
Roy
